New Year’s Traditional Breakfast

Taking left over black eyed peas and ham hocks, adding fresh tomatoes and miscellaneous other additions -turning it into Hoppin’ John. Served with over-easy eggs and toast, some hot sauce. Been far too many years since we came together as a family to eat this. Time to start planning for next year.

exploding eggs

I was telling Mom about the first post on Dad’s exploding spray paint can. She said, “don’t forget to tell them about . . .” and so here is that short tale.

Do not forget to turn off your burners when you leave the house, because if you have a left a pot of boiling water with a dozen eggs hard boiling, what you get when you get back – at a minimum, is exploded eggs all over the ceiling, walls and floors. She won at bridge that day,so there was some good to come out of it.

Well, there’s another one for Memories of a Warm Kitchen.
